Would you like to be happy?

Did your gut just say, ‘Who doesn’t?’ or ‘Hell yeah’ or ‘Is this a trick question?” Alright then, read on…

Most of us want to be happy; we may choose different words, but we want the things we want (professional success, spiritual fulfilment, connection, purpose) because we believe they will make us happier.

That happiness is a legitimate goal is one of the only self-evident truths in our world. If I say I want to learn to play the piano, you could ask me why and I might say because I like music, or it makes me feel relaxed or I like torturing my piano teacher or hell, even that it makes me happy!

But when you ask me why I want to be happy – it’s likely to be ‘because!” “Who doesn’t?” etc.

Our paths to happiness may vary. The face of happiness could be someone who gets excited about learning (and is reading this post about a workshop with a smile on their face); could be someone who is engrossed in plans for the next 5 years; could be someone who can choose what to pay attention to and what not to.

It could be someone who looks forward to stroking a new leaf on their plant or someone who is changing the world. Some happy people may appear outwardly cheerful or transparently serene and others are simply busy.

The fact is that each of us have the potential to be happy in our own way – and that the basic strategies for improving happiness in our day to day lives are less daunting than you may have thought.

So, join us for a three-month long experiment with cultivating happiness through our course called Flourish. Our goal is two-fold – one, to assimilate what scientists know about what makes people happy (yes, happiness research is a thriving field of psychology!) and two, to put into practice a range of happiness-inducing strategies so you can pick the ones that work for you.

You should sign up if you’re willing to

  • Attend 6 one-hour calls (conveniently scheduled on every alternate Thursday from 5-6, we’re thoughtful like that); we will record them in case someone has an emergency
  • Commit to experimenting with happiness strategies for a period of 3 months – could be a reflective exercise, expressing gratitude to someone in your life, sleeping earlier than you usually do, journaling to a prompt, engaging in a hobby, meeting a friend for a walk (don’t they sound fun already?)
  • Support the others who sign up – through your sharing and encouragement for the sharing of others

That’s pretty much it. We start on the 14th of September. Click here https://imjo.in/tt3Ysk if you would like to register.
