A workshop for both aspiring and experienced facilitators who would like to add to the depth of their work. Participants will learn the principles of designing a learning event, observe and meaningfully use the dynamics of a learning group. The program is designed in a way that participants experience for themselves the power of the concepts and frameworks they will be using with their learners.

For over 25 years, we’ve been in the business of creating impactful learning experiences. What makes our work unique is our ability to blend a deep understanding of behavioural psychology with creative methodologies to meet the learning needs of a business audience.

We know what makes learners bring their full selves into a group—to connect their experiences to the topic, to take the risk of trying something new, expressing themselves, or receiving feedback. In this workshop, we share what we’ve learned along the way.

Facilitation 101 is a 2-day hands-on workshop for those new to facilitation and for experienced facilitators looking to deepen their impact. You’ll not only learn the principles of designing learning events but also how to observe and meaningfully engage with the dynamics of a group.

By the end of the two days, you will be able to:

  • Articulate what facilitation is and what competencies are involved
  • Design and facilitate workshops and meetings that incorporate adult learning principles
  • Create an environment that is safe and conducive to learning
  • Contract effectively with learners and sponsors
  • Identify or design interactive experiences that achieve learning objectives using a repertoire of creative methods
  • Manage group energy and invite high levels of engagement
  • Facilitate introspection to help learners connect concepts to themselves, draw insights, and plan personal change
  • Identify your natural style of facilitation and flex it as needed

The workshop draws on concepts from Transactional Analysis to offer deeper insights into self, others, and group dynamics. It’s designed to be experiential—so you’ll not only learn new frameworks, you’ll experience their power first-hand. Get ready for some rich meta-level learning!
